Pat Stokes RIP wore the Red and Gold jersey of Moycarkey Borris with distinction in his youth. A skilful and committed player Pat is first referenced in the club’s GAA story with Paddy Croke, Larry and Billy Dowling as our best players in the Mid Minor Hurling Final of 1949. The following year Pat was chosen in the half back line on the Moycarkey Borris Senior Hurling team. Maintaining his place on the Senior team throughout the 1950’s Pat was one of our most consistent players. In 1953 he played on the Mid Tipperary team in the Miller Shield. In 1955 he played wng back in the Mid Senior Hurling Final versus Sarsfields. Pat was also on the Senior team of 1958 that acquitted themselves steadfastly versus the same opposition. After his playing days ended in the early 1960’s Pat remained a steadfast supporter of the club throughout his lifetime.
